Beauty Care in Ayurveda

Beauty really is a blessing. Not every woman has this blessing. However, everyone can make their appearance attractive and keep it that way for decades, if they listen to Ayurveda, eat the right kind of food, exercise (yoga) daily, and nurture their skin, hair, eyes, lips, foot, hands, mouth, teeth, etc with the recommended herbs.Ayurveda never approves wearing makeup of any kind. Make-ups do not show real beauty. They are just a mask. However, Ayurveda recommends variety of cosmetics - henna, shoe flower (hibiscus), turmeric, sandalwood paste, aloe vera, etc.Ayurveda recommends daily abhayanga (oil massage before bath), applying oil on your hair, practicing yoga, applying mascara (not the synthetic type), etc.Beauty care massages are also recommended. Women can achieve glowing hair by applying certain types of herbal pastes, specially suited for their body or skin types. The herbal pastes can be a mixture or a sole herb - kasthoori manjal (Curcuma aromatica), mailanchi (henna, Lawsonia inermis), hibiscus, aloe vera, etc. Hair oil can have henna, hibiscus, kayyonni (eclipta alba), etc.Another significantly important part about Ayurvedic beauty care if modifying lifestyle, eating habits and working habits according to dinacharya (daily routines) and rithu charya (seasonal routines) according to Ayurvedic recommendations. The general directions include sleeping at a fixed time, waking up early before sunrise, eating vegetarian food, avoiding fat, leading an active lifestyle, etc.A happy face is a beautiful face. No amount of makeup can hide your worries, doubts and insecurities. It is always essential that you maintain a positive outlook to your life. Lavanya Sutra Ayurvedic Beauty Care

Lavanya sutra is the session of Ayurveda that deals primarily with beauty care for women. Lavanya or lavanyam means beauty and sutra is a set of directions or techniques.

Lavanya sutra in Ayurveda is the technique of maintaining beauty by ensuring healthy living and addressing specific beauty issues with natural remedies.

The different sections of lavanya sutra are skin care, hair care, eye care, mouth care, nail care, foot care and keeping a trimmed and healthy body.

Physical beauty is not independent of one's physical health. Only healthy persons can have attractive beauty. Just like the case of health care, Ayurvedic beauty care also depends on freeing body from bodily wastes or toxins (called ama), optimum nutrition to body and the balance of the three doshas of tridoshas.

Ayurveda is very much skeptical about wearing make ups. Even an inch of makeup on face can't hide the worries of mind, period. There is one important aspect of lavanya sutra, Ayurvedic beauty care treatise. It is not only the physical aspect that gives beauty to a woman, but also her mental bearings. The happiness of mind will be easily visible on face. So is gloom and worries.

Lavanya sutra beauty care Ayurveda doesn't stop there. It reaches spiritual levels that the person needs to be in constant touch with divine to maintain internal and external beauty. According to Ayurvedic principles, one who is self-aware will be eternally beautiful and require no physical adornments.

The cosmetics used in Ayurveda beauty care are all natural herbs like henna, Aloe Vera, hibiscus, honey, turmeric (Curcuma longa), kasthoori manjal (Curcuma aromatica), sandal wood paste and such naturally available herbs that detoxify, nourishes and tones the skin.

Possible spelling variations for lavanya sutra: lavanya suthra, lavanya sootra, lavanya soothra, lavanyasutra, lavannya sutra, lavannya suthra, lavannya sootra and lavannya soothra.

Natural Skin Beauty Tips

Do you really want clean beautiful skin? If you wanted it that much then you'd put in the effort of research and routine. (By research, I mean for you to find the best possible way for you to have nice skin. Not everyone's going to be able to use Proactiv or Olay or Biore etc.) If you want clean beautiful skin and are a little bit lazy (like me) you're best off trying these things a little by little and getting into the habit. Hot wax hair removal is one of the most popular ways of removing unwanted hair. This type of hair removal would require for you to heat the wax on a microwave before using it. Compared to using epilators or shaving, where you have to do it daily to be hair-free, hair waxing is more efficient as it allows hair-free part's of the body for about 2-3 weeks. There are many harmful beauty practices that are damaging black skin such as skin bleaching and other harmful chemicals as well as poor diet, and eliminating these harmful practices is the beginning of having beautiful skin.

Ayurveda believes that just external application and precautions are not sufficient to keep it full of life, strength, luster, sheen, color, vitality and healthy life long. This issue is discussed in almost every classical text in detail which shows that our Rishis (sages) were also aware of the importance of this field. Ayurvedic Ahara-Vihar (Diet and Lifestyle) concept are two major factors that influence whole body and the health of the hair as well. A more casual look is long flowing waves with just a little teasing at the top. Then there is the more intricate hair styles like piled high but with small gems worked in to the hair to make it shine. It maintains the glossiness of the color by gently cleaning the hair. Some experts have found the chemicals used to deactivate UV rays (most commonly cinnamates, benzophenones and amino benzoic acid) react adversely with sunlight when they are absorbed, possibly causing DNA damage.

All skins can benefit from the natural goodness of herbal masks. There are a variety of herbal masks which serve different purposes. These can include cleansing the skin, exfoliation, softening, lightening, reversing the aging process, combating acne as well as other skin disorders and returning the youthful elasticity to ageing skin. If you are using moisturizers or facial creams, it is time for you to assess the kind of skin care product you are using right now. Are they really as effective as what it claimed when you bought it? May be the product ingredients that comes with it must be of low concentration or it was not meant to address the skin damage you are experiencing now. I learned this fact during my treatment at Emerald Coast Dermatology and Skin Surgery Center. Not only their treatment is the best I have ever experienced regarding my skin issues but the environment is also excellent with proper hygiene and friendly staff.

How to Fix Your Face with Exercise

Sagging faces are no laughing matter. If you happen to witness your jaw line being quietly invaded by your upper cheeks, you are not alone. The good news is that there is hope for your jaw line, your sagging cheeks and even the dreaded wattle because facial exercise can easily change the shape and contour of those droopy features that can make you appear older than your years.

Facial features atrophy just like other parts of the body. If you're over 40 you are certainly seeing a thickening waist line if you don't exercise, expanding hips and thighs and a wiggly under arm as muscles elongate and skin sags.

It's hard to feel attractive when you're seeing signs of aging especially when the aging is in your face. Our faces are our brand. People recognize us by our facial appearance and if your face shows despair, stress, lines, sags and wrinkles, you may not be presenting your best face scenario.

Just how and why does aging affect the face? An aging face develops when the muscles that connect into the hairline begin to atrophy or loosen. Then those tiny muscles slide downward into other muscles and muscles groups. The pooling of one muscle into another can create bags, noticeable sagging and even wrinkles. Atrophy is another word for dis-use or weakening.

Without exercise your face will continue to fail you. You will indeed look older and feel less confident in your appearance if you do not stop the downward slide of your facial muscles.

Using exercise is easy and simple to master and once you learn the techniques, you will always know how to maintain a youthful face without resorting to costly invasive procedures that put your good health at risk. Most faithful users of facial exercise proclaim that their faces look ten, fifteen, even twenty years younger than their peers.

Learning an exercise regimen means that you probably can't be lured into believing that your only remedy for facial aging is at the tip of a syringe or a scalpel. Repeated injecting and numerous surgeries won't equate to a younger face; rather, the over-use of these modalities can create a freakish appearance. Plumping and paralyzing injections are toxic substances – exercise is natural.

More good news surrounding facial exercise is that if you have opted for injections or surgery in the past, you probably will give them up entirely when you rely on exercise techniques to keep a soft, mushy forehead taut; the nose to mouth labial folds will begin to flatten and reposition in just days. You will notice that every portion of your face and neck can be exercised with great success and the program only takes a few minutes a day to complete.

Day by day you will see lifting, tightening and toning of your facial features. You will feel the lifting and soon it will be apparent to everyone that something new is occurring with your face.

There are special anchoring techniques that create the lifting. The muscles in the face attach to bone on one end and the other end attaches to either another muscle or muscle group and the end of a facial muscle can also attach to the skin. The anchoring techniques are performed wearing exercise gloves and they are easy to master. Anchoring is necessary in order to create the needed tightening of the muscles so the affected areas can respond to the isometric contractions.

The exercise movements work to refine, tone, lift, enhance and smooth the areas that age you. Just as exercise works your thighs, buttocks, arms and torso, facial exercise goes to work to stop atrophy of your forehead, eye lids, jowls, pouches, cheeks, neck and more. The simple exercises target and strengthen the underlying muscles of your face. It just makes sense. By firming and lifting these muscles, the youthful contours of your face return and you skin looks younger, healthier and fresher.

You can fix your face, look years younger without costly and painful invasive procedures and proudly wear a youthful, more vibrant appearance. Remember, exercise changes everything and you will see and feel the results almost immediately.

Femme fatale look

The Femme fatale make up look is timeless, beautiful and glamorous. This is a popular vintage look on the catwalk. It is an appropriate party or night time look.

How?

• To achieve the Femme Fatale look, apply a liquid foundation and then correct all the flaws with a concealer or a corrector. Set the make-up with loose mineral powder.
• Add definition and subtle highlights to the cheekbones with sculpting powder or a blush in browns or darker shades.
• Create a ‘vampish' pout. Stick to the shades of reds and plums to make your lips stand out with bold colours.
• This look is high on drama, so the eyes should be bold and seductive. Use pastel shades to create a smoky eye. Use dark eyeliner to line near the lashes. Create voluminous eye lashes with two-three coats of mascara. The brows should be well defined as well. Kohl or kajal can be applied to define the eyes well.

No make-up look

The no make-up is a quick and on-the go look. This look has become popular on the catwalk recently. It gives an effect of a luminescent complexion.

How?

• For this look, apply a liquid foundation and then correct all the flaws with a concealer or a corrector. Berzin Irani* suggests that an under eye concealer is absolutely essential.
• To set the foundation, dust some face powder or a loose mineral powder.
• Apply very little powder blush in plum or pink.
• Highlight the cheekbones to create creating a chiseled look.
• Keep the lips luminous by applying gloss in shades of pink or plum. Highlight the softness and suppleness of your lips.
• The eyeliner should have a definite shape and try to use brown or blackish brown shades. Apply eye-shadow in shades of browns or chocolates and end with a little mascara to open up the eyes.

Classic make-up

The classic make-up is timeless, fresh and beautiful. This is a versatile look and is frequently seen on the catwalk. It gives an effect of fresh dewy complexion.

How?

(See Beauty Kit for recommendations)
• To achieve a flawless classic look, apply a light-weight, loose mineral powder foundation or tinted moisturiser. Set it with compact powder.
• Create a healthy glow on the cheeks by applying powder blush in coral peach or subtle pink. Apply it to the apples of the cheek and to the cheekbones for a more defined look.
• Powder blush stays longer so avoid cream blushes.
• Keep the lips neutral. Stick to the shades of pinkish browns or nudes. Lighter shades of pink will also help you attain a natural look.
• Give your eyes a soft smoky effect, using light browns or very light shades till the brow line. The eyeliner should not have a definite shape, so try to smudge the line close to the lashes. Apply a little mascara to open up the eyes.
